Welcome to the Get Hooked community, your supplier of sustainably caught, local seafood. In order for you to enjoy your Get Hooked community supported fishery (CSF) experience, please read the following document carefully as it outlines the policies that keep our CSF working smoothly for all of our members.
About Our Fish
All seafood will be sourced from California, foremost from Santa Barbara, and the Central Coast whenever possible, depending on weather, fishing regulations, and ocean conditions. If weather prohibits a fresh local catch from the California coast, we may provide locally harvested frozen or smoked seafood.
Processing: Finfish species (black cod, salmon, rockfish, etc.) will generally be filleted and ready to cook. We cannot guarantee that fillets will be free of bones! If you select the option for whole fish shares, you'll receive gutted whole fish when we are delivering species that are appropriately sized for our share exchange: these are mainly rockfish, petrale sole, and black cod. For larger species, our whole fish members receive fillets also. Sand dabs are provided “pan ready” to all members - with no head, guts or fins, for optimal flavor, quantity and quality.
Availability: Get Hooked cannot guarantee the delivery of specific seafood products at specific times in specific quantities. If weather or other conditions prevent our fishermen suppliers from catching marketable product, Get Hooked will notify you and we will either provide you with a fresh-frozen alternative or your account will be credited for the value of the weekly share.
Pick-Up
As a CSF member, it is your responsibility to pick up your weekly share of seafood from your chosen pickup location during the designated time frames. By joining Get Hooked, you understand that if you do not pick up your share within the distribution time frame, it will be donated to an interested party or facility. Here are the options if you can’t pickup:
- Donate your share to the site host – requires no action from you.
- Make arrangements to have someone pick up your share and check your name off the sign-in sheet. Your share also makes a fantastic gift!
- Set a delivery hold on your account when you don't want to receive a delivery. Delivery holds can be set up to 11:00 p.m. two nights before delivery (for example, set hold by 11pm on Sunday night for a Tuesday delivery).
We will provide you with an insulated cooler bag at the time you first join the CSF. Please bring this bag with you each time you pick up your fish. Your share will be packed in our community cooler. Please remember that you are responsible for your seafood upon pickup. Fish need to stay chilled until you are ready to prepare it. Get Hooked cannot be responsible for product that was improperly stored following pickup.
Payments
Get Hooked uses a user-friendly software program called Farmigo to track our share deliveries and process payments. In Farmigo you will create your personal account, set up your subscription, make payments, and be able to modify your subscription, if needed.
Our CSF operates year-round, and shares can be purchased at any time. When you make a purchase, you commit to buying 4, 8, 12, 26 or 52, deliveries of seafood at that time. We do this to know exactly how much fish we need buy each week, which avoids waste and keeps cost low.
We accept payment via credit/debit cards.
Our online ordering platform will enroll you in automatic payments by default. You will automatically be charged whenever your account level drops to zero or below. For example, if you initially pay for 4 deliveries, you will be charged for another 4 deliveries after the first 4 deliveries. This will ensure that your account is paid in a timely fashion so that you never miss a delivery. It is the member's responsibility to manage this feature in their Farmigo account. Note that after the 4 initial deliveries, you can cancel any time and we refund you the full balance in your account.
Upon signing up, a confirmation of your subscription details, pickup location details, and start date of deliveries will be automatically emailed to you. New accounts will be placed on hold for 3 days. This gives us time to source seafood for you. You will receive your first delivery on the closest delivery date after the 3-day hold.
Updating Your Farmigo Account
You can change your subscription at any time in Farmigo, and you will receive an immediate email confirming the change.
Communications
Get Hooked communicates with its members mainly through email, which includes information on the fish, the fishermen, recipes, tips for handling seafood, policy issues, schedule changes, and the like.
As a member, you understand that it is your responsibility to open and read the emails (including payment notices) so that you stay informed. If your email address or any other contact information changes, you will change it in your Farmigo account promptly or contact info@gethookedseafood.com or (805) 456-9681 to update it.
Suspension of Service
As a CSF member, you agree to pay your account in a timely manner and keep your membership account information up to date.
Your share will not be delivered if you do not have money in your account. If we don't receive a timely payment from you, you will receive an email letting you know that a payment is due. Once you make a payment, you can check your "Next Distribution Date" to see when deliveries will resume.
Cancellation
After the minimum of 4 deliveries, you may cancel at any time. Any remaining balance in your account will be refunded via the method your payment was made.
AGREEMENT WITH CSF POLICIESBy signing up, you agree that you would like to be a member of Get Hooked and have read and agree to the policies above.
